Jessica got back in her spot among all the other graduates. Her heart was racing.

Could it be? Could it really be him? That was the only thing she could think about. He was so far away and in a bit of a shadow, but she knew those eyes. Those eyes that when you looked into them, you’d swear you were looking right into hell. It was him alright.

After the ceremony had ended, she left in a hurry. She didn’t stop to mingle, take pictures, or anything, she just wanted to get out of there. As she headed down the hallway out the doors to meet up with her family and friends she heard a voice that sent chills through her spine. “Where do you think you‘re going?” Art reprimanded. Jessica quickened her pace and tried to get away from him. Art caught up to her and spun her around to face him. “I hear you have a problem with me. What have I ever done to you, I‘ve -” he was cut off by a sharp jab to the groin. Jessica had nailed him right where it counts. She was so proud of herself. That was the first time she had ever defended herself, but there was no time to savor the moment, she needed to get away. She turned and began to run. As she reached the door and reached out to get it, she saw it open. She breathed a sigh of relief when she looked into those eyes. There was Nick, standing right there. “Hey baby” Nick said as he reached down and gave her a kiss. “You get your hands off my daughter!” Art shouted as he approached the two of them. Nick pulled Jessica behind him and he stepped up to Art. “Who the hell do you th-” once again Art was cut off, but this time by the impact of Nick’s fist and his jaw. Art was thrown to the ground and Nick took this opportunity to get Jessica out of there. “Let‘s go before I need a lawyer” Nick told her as he opened the door and led her out. They walked towards their awaiting limo. “Baby, please don‘t say anything about what happened” Jessica asked him. “He needs to be put back in jail” nick tried to reason with her. “I know, I‘ll talk to my dad tomorrow, just please don‘t bring it up tonight, I don‘t want to ruin the day.” Jessica pleaded with him, “Okay, but tell him tomorrow.” he agreed just as they entered the limo and got in, joining everyone else.
