Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey now Officially Divorced
The seperation of the year is now official. Jess's full name has officially been changed from "Jessica Simpson Lachey" to just "Jessica Simpson".
The divorce papers are dated June 30th. Jessica's publicist Rob Shuter has confirmed the formality to People Magazine. On Thursday, June 29th, documents were released in which the couple asked that retired Superior Court Judge Dana Senit Henry be appointed "for the sole purpose of" ending their marriage, as they call it.
They asked the judge to "bifurcate" the case, meaning to make the divorce official without settling all the financial details. Settling the financial details of the divorce has been an uncomfortable point between the Jess and Nick. soon after Simpson filed for divorce last December (05), Lachey specified that he reserved the right to ask for spousal support, although he has denied in interviews that he is planning to ask for alimony.
